Chongshi College of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Meng Xiancheng College of East China Normal University, Fengru College of Beihang University, and Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) of the University of Macau (UM) jointly launched the exchange programme ‘The Development of City and Culture Exchange Program’. The programme is an inter-university and cross-city cultural exchange activity that aims to explore the unique cultures of the four cities, promote the cultivation of talent in universities, and facilitate the exchange of experiences in the establishment of residential college system.

The exchange programme this time took place in Xi’an, a city renowned for its historical and cultural legacy as the ancient capital of Chang’an, as well as its vibrant atmosphere of innovation. Through activities encompassing both historical and contemporary elements, students from the four colleges fostered a sense of patriotism, expanded their understanding of history, and nurtured a proactive mindset. In addition, the programme established divided mixed groups comprising outstanding undergraduate students from each college, so as to create a platform for cultural integration and academic exchange. Through discussions, workshops, and field visits, the students broadened their horizons, gained a deeper understanding of urban culture, and developed a more holistic view of urban development.

The Development of City and Culture Exchange Program not only promotes cultural exchange between the four participating colleges, but also underlines the importance of quality education. The successful implementation of the exchange programme in Xi’an demonstrated the commitment of the participating universities to building a platform for cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and students’ personal growth. The programme acts as a bridge between different cities and universities to facilitate the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experience.
